Ernst Barlach (German, 1870-1938). A bronze statue. An allegorical religious figural group produced in the artist's German Expressionist style, depicting the Biblical kiss of Judas, also known as the Betrayal of Christ, as referenced in the gospels of Matthew (26:47–50) and Mark (14:43–45), with abstract Judas and Christ figures depicted embracing. Impressed signature to top of base E. BARLACH with impressed foundry mark below to base side. Modeled on a rectangular form base with a rectangular wood plinth stand.
Dimensions: 21 X 8.5 X 5.5 in.
Condition: Good overall condition having mild age related surface wear with evidence of patina. Estate fresh to the market.
