A Chinese tea brick tablet, produced circa late 20th Century. A decorative brick comprised of compressed Yunnan black tea, historically produced in ancient China and used for sustenance and currency. The individual tea block is broken off the brick, and added to boiling water to brew. Relief designs in three panels with People's Republic of China and Chinese Communist Party iconography: the top-most containing five stars; the center panel displaying an architectural gate surmounted by a star in the upper arch, and flanked by dual botanical elements; the bottom panel having multiple Chinese relief characters with Chinese language notation "Zhongguo Chaye Gongsi" ("China National Tea Corporation") in top row, and "Zhaoliqiao Zhuancha Chang Zhizao" ("made by the Zhaoliqiao Brick Tea Factory"). Scrolling loop and Infinity style designs to individual back blocks. A striking display and conversation piece.
