A religious historical heliogravure etching with drypoint on paper titled "Death of a Virgin" by Rembrandt Van Rijn. The Death of the Virgin is a 1639 print in etching and drypoint by Rembrandt, showing the death of the Virgin Mary from The Golden Legend. A doctor takes her pulse as the apostle Peter tenderly nurses her through her last moment on earth. The cherubs and an angel above the bed are ready to receive her spirit. Dimensions are 15.75"h x 12.25"w (image size) and 25"h x 21"w (framed). In very good vintage condition. Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) usually simply known as Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art. Rembrandt's reputation as the greatest etcher in the history of the medium was established in his lifetime.
