A 19th century Munger & Benedict Empire Period shelf clock. 8-day weight driven Brass time and strike movement (marked No. 98 on front plate), papered dial with Roman numerals and "Flying Eagle" pendulum, marked "Warranted by, Munger & Benedict, Auburn, N.Y.". Mahogany case with carved Eagle crest above an upper dial door with reverse painted glass and a lower mirrored door, flanked by painted pilasters over carved paw feet, with original wall paper on backboard. Older refinishing with minor damage, dial wear and edge damage, restored crest, running when cataloged. 39 3/4" high overall. ESTIMATE $600-800
