Description
A 1917 builder's plate from the Montreal Locomotive Works. Diamond shape measures 16 3/4" by 8 3/4". Heavy crud prevents accurate serial number the number 3283 was scratched on the back. Consignor says it's a 2-8-2 from the Canadian Pacific but I'm not so sure. I am reluctant to scrape off the gunk/paint. Might be a real sleeper. One bolt hole is still occupied, the other is open.
10/11 - A magnet sticks so it is cast iron.
From a friend in Canada: This looks like a builder's plate from the Canadian Locomotive Company in Kingston Ontario. I can't tell from the picture but it could be from a Canadian National 2-8-2 if the serial number ranges from 1353 to 1402. CNR 3283 was a Kingston built engine but it wasn't shipped until 1918. Hope this helps.
