This is in excellent condition. Asmar was born in Flint, Michigan of Lebanese and Greek parents. A prodigy, she began winning awards at age six. At age 10, she appeared in the Oregonian front page with her unusual window painting on parchment of the Madonna, Christ child, and angels. At age 12, her complex historical painting of Cavalcade of America was printed in the Oregon journal. At age 19, she received B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Lewis and Clark college in Portland. She taught French, art and piano at St. Helens Hall. She graduated from University of Washington with a master of fine arts degree. Her thesis was an innovative visual opera, Pelleas and Melisande. Teaching art at Lewis and Clark college. She worked for Boeing aircraft doing top secret engineering drawings in aerodynamics. In early 1960 Asmar traveled to many countries in Europe and the Middle East. Setting up her studio in southern California, she divided her time between teaching, illustrating for Los Angeles Times, engraving for Nambe Mills in New Mexico, creating lithographic editions for publishers in New York. In the 1970s Asmar painted southwestern scenes and ceremonial dances of many... Pueblo, Apache and Navaho Indians. Her lithographs of the Indians are in a permanent collection at the National Museum of American history in the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.
