Rare 9k Mourning Brooch From 1880 with Blue Enamel Mourning brooch tests for 9k, has a center hair receiver under glass with hair in excellent condition, curled and having a gold-tone wire decoration. Surrounding the receiver is unusual blue enamel having either chips or overpaint, indecipherable, could be floral depictions or verbiage. Reverse states, ìJoseph Moulden, died Sept. 6th 1880, Age 64.î Piece has the original ìCî clasp and is 1 1/2î wide, has a bail for wear as a necklace. Piece weighs 17.37 grams.
