Text printed within double border with printed side notes. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece of armorials by John Goddard, engraved title-page, one large engraved folding map of Palestine, 27 engraved double-page plates and maps by Thomas Cross, John Goddard, William Marshall, and Robert Vaughan, as well as numerous wood-engraved head- and tail-pieces, and initials. Modern three-quarter brown calf over marbled paper-covered boards, black leather spine labels, stamped in blind and in gilt; edges stained yellow; matching marbled endpapers; late 19th century inscription at head of front blank; fine early 18th century ownership inscription on verso of frontispiece, "Mrs Dorothea Parsons Her Booke 10th April 1726"; very indiscreet blindstamp of the "Wigan Free Public Library" at bottom corner of frontispiece, engraved title-page, letter-press title-page, large folding map, p. 1, last plate, and final leaf of text; scattered soiling to text; a few leaves with pagination corrected in pencil or ink; scattered minor marginalia in pencil and ink; in brown cloth fall-down-back box.
