Description
A large cast bronze Art Nouveau figural group, Fountain of Youth or Fontaine Jeunesse, after Max Blondat, French, 1879 to 1926. The sculpture depicts three children sitting on top of a basin and looking at three frogs on its border. Inscribed, MAX BLONDAT. The surface is covered with a deep green patina. Max Blondat was a French sculptor of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. One of his most famous sculptures is the Fountain of Youth, representing three children watching three frogs. Copies are at the Place Darcy in Fontainebleau; Dusseldorf, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ukraine, Odessa, Zurich, Switzerland, and the United States in Denver.
