Description
HERMES PARIS silk "Deo Juvante Monaco" scarf. This scarf is considered to be a grail of Hermes scarves. Created in 1957/58 as a special edition for the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier IIIs, the scarf features the emblems and coat of arms of Monaco. The design is made to look like golden embroidery, and the Deo Juvante (With Gods help) contrast over the red center circle also featuring the name of Monaco. Grace Kelly herself used the same scarf as a way to hold her cast after breaking her arm around 1960, as shown in picture. Supposedly drawn by Hugo Grygkar, first edition in 1958, re-issued around 2010.
This scarf is a first edition as the silk feels very different and thinner from this time period.
The scarf measures approx. 34.5-34.75”
Sewn in tag not present.
Rare as a first edition, very collectible, especially sought after, rare color variation.
