Description
Group of two English or English market boxes comprising, a mahogany Chippendale tea caddy, circa 1780, and a brass bound China trade camphor Campaign lap desk with fitted interior, circa 1830, the tea caddy with Henry Stern Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana, label to the underside, and the lap desk with a British Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana, retail card, otherwise apparently unmarked.
Provenance: Tea caddy acquired from New Orleans Auction Galleries in New Orleans, LA on 09/14/97 as Lot 1376.

Condition
Caddy: inner removable compartments lacking, fading to finish, stains and damage to fabric lining, cracks to underside, key is not present. Desk: surface scratches, lower interior panel does not secure due to small chip to the underside, inkwell is lacking the lid and has small chips to the rim, key is present.
