Description

Important document signed by President Abraham Lincoln, also signed by Secretary of the Interior Caleb B. Smith. President Lincoln appoints Phineas Densmore Gurley to be a visitor of the Government Hospital for the Insane. Gurley was Chaplain of the United States Senate. He preached Lincoln's funeral sermon and was at his deathbed with Mary Todd Lincoln.

Framed document measures 32.5"w x 29.5"t. Document window measures 16.5" x 13.5".This document was consigned to us by an Atlanta Doctor, he purchased it approx. 25 years ago from The Abraham Lincoln Bookshop in Chicago, Illinois.
