Description
Amherstburg, Ontario. Pine. Fine pair of working Mallard decoys carved by Dan Wigle in 1977. The drake with a slightly turned head and the hen is in a rare swimming posture. The pair are rendered in very life-like paint with carved details on the wing and tail feathers. Marked, "DWW 1977" and "Bear Creek Club" (a duck hunting club adjacent to Walpole Island on the St. Clair Flats), branded on base of both decoys. Drake: 6.25" x 17.25" x 6.5". Hen: 5.25" x 19.25" x 6.75".
Condition
Keels have been removed. Outstanding original paint detail in near mint unused condition.
