(CIVIL WAR--OHIO.) Group of diaries and letters by Civil War soldiers from Ohio. 14 items in one box, various sizes and condition. Various places, 1861-1865 Felix Holdeman of the 110th Ohio. 5 letters to friend Abel Chew of Ansonia, OH. On 8 December 1864, expresses his hope that "the revels will hav all their harts cut out before long and whipt. I would not mind running over their carcases if thay was piled up like the mountains in Virginia. It neve made me feel sorry to see piles of dead rebels, the larger the pile the better. . . . I will send you a few cullerd gentlemen, one for Aunt Sallie." Condition rough; all but one laminated. 1864-1865.
Cullen Bradley, captain of the 6th Ohio Light Artillery. Manuscript orderly book, 65 pages, April 1864 to February 1865 (then continued with diary entries as a farmer in Reedville, Ohio, 1865-1872). Also 3 documents, 1860, while he was a sergeant in the regular army, 1860.
Justin Warriner Brewer (1842-1910) of Hampden, OH, of the 154th and 105th Ohio Infantry. Pair of diaries, mostly as a guard for prisoners of war at Camp Dennison and Camp Carrington in Ohio, January 1863 to December 1864.

John Sheppard of the 46th Ohio. Manuscript diary, 120 pages; condition poor. July 17, 1863: "We marchet into Jackson and found no Rebels. They left last night. We tore up the town and took all we wanted, then marchet back to camp pretty well satisfied." 1863. With photograph as an older man.
