Description
This breathtaking 1910-20's American Chinese style Chinoiserie clock is by Edward I. Farmer, the renowned early 20th century antiques dealer and Chinese jade importer. This magnificent clock is made from spinach green carved jade and features two carved parrots on a pierced jade base, which support a round carved Moghul style jade clock face. The Moghul style carving elegantly depicts a scrolling foliate motif in low reserve including 2 finely carved chimeras of which used to be a Chinese jade washer from Qianlong to Jiaqing period. The face of the clock itself is an engraved, silvered color, with green Asian inspired numerals and finished by ornate hands . Bordering the face is a silver foliate and flower border. The clock is finished by a hand carved, floral and foliate gilt base. Mr. Farmer imported antique Chinese materials, and incorporated them into objects d'art for the American market.Dimensions: 18 1/2 inches high x 11 1/2 inches wide at the base; clock face alone is 7 1/2 inches diameter
