Description
This large engraving by James David Smillie (American, 1833-1909) is after a painting by Albert Bierstadt (German, 1830-1902), depicting Lander's Peak in the Rocky Mountains. It is signed and dated in-print: A Bierstadt / 1863, lower right. The engraving is housed in a light wood frame with a custom gray mat. There is light foxing throughout the cloudy sky as well as along the border. The frame has a few scuffs. The sight area measures 18 1/2" x 29", and the frame measures 33" x 43".
