Description
Austrian Model 1849 Kammerbüchse Tube Lock Rifle, Ca. 1851, L 48" | Octagonal to round barrel with 12 rifled grooves, length 32", bore 18mm. Marked at the barrel flat "Ferd. Früwirth" (Ferdinand Früwirth). Several markings on the side of the barrel including FF. Wedge front sight, bayonet lug, adjustable and notched rear sights. Short-lived Augustin tube lock system with the lock bearing "851" (1851) and a double eagle. Brass trigger guard with pistol grip. Brass butt plate. Wood stock having a cheek rest and stampings of FF1852, B, F, and S (not grouped). Original ramrod. Provenance: Collection of the Windorf Galleries, Mt. Clemens, Mich.
Condition
Lock functions as intended. Scuffs, dings and scratches to the stock. Light pitting and scratching to the barrel.
