Description
An early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver censor or incense burner, Karachi circa 1920 Raj period for the Arabic market. The base section of circular form with a beaded edge upon three ball feet, the centre with a rising rounded section with a hinged domed lid surmounted by a compressed knop finial, the lid with pierced chased rosettes and foliate scrolls. The base with bands of chased rosettes and foliate scrolls, the sides of the central bowl with chased circular vignettes of buildings and bridges, interspersed with chased rosette scrolls, one with a vacant shield shape cartouche. A pair of tongs with chased foliate decoration attached via a chain. Height – 11.8 cm / 4.5 inches Weight – 334 grams / 10.74 ozt
