Description
An early 20th century Siamese (Thai) unmarked silver teapot, probably Bangkok circa 1930 Of octagonal rounded form with a waisted neck upon a spreading circular foot, the curved spout opposite a C scroll handle fitted with insulators pinned to scroll sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by an affixed gourd finial with leafy calyx. The sides with embossed decoration of various Thai elements; a trident for the House of Chakri, a conch shell within a water bowl, an offering vase, a bowl containing flames, two swords and an ox, each above a rosette with leaves, the upper section with trailing flame scrolls, repeated to the foot and the lid. All reserved with matted decoration. The spout chased with a makara head. Length – 24.5 cm / 9.5 inches Weight – 652 grams / 20.96 ozt Declaration: C1PU2VJM
