A Series of Engravings Explaining the Course of the Nerves. Philadelphia: Published by Anthony Finley, William Fry, Printer, 1818.First American edition, ex libris Dr. James Moore Ball, with typed letter signed by Ball presenting the book to Boston physician and artist Dr. Harris Peyton Mosher in 1924; with Ball's bookplate inside front board; with book label of Civil War veteran surgeon and Willimantic, Connecticut Doctor T. Morton Hills (d. 1909) with Hills's signature on the explanation of plate IX, and a few other handwritten annotations in the text, including a slip tipped to the explanatory text of plate II identifying each of the numbered points indicated on the illustration; half-title and publisher's ads present; illustrated with nine engraved illustrations of the nerves after Bell's original drawings (plate leaves foxed, one folding plate with closed tear); bound in contemporary half red morocco, quite worn, front board detached, 10 3/4 x 8 1/2 in.
