AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY ROSE ENGINE French, reputedly from the workshop of A.-L. Breguet. With fourteen rosettes with twelve designed for side following, 15 ½ - inch brass drive wheel with 400, 300, 240, 192 and 60 divisions, numerous additional division nodes with steel spring-loaded detent, rubber follower mounted at the side of the headstock with wooden handled tension adjustment, 9 ½ - inch diameter headstock with dove-tailed slides and index attachment, bench mounted slide rest with threaded advance and tool bit, and 25-inch diameter drive wheel to rotate the headstock, (front mounted hand wheel now missing), all on the original walnut bench height 48 in, width. 46 in depth. 28 in (at splayed legs). Reportedly, another nearly identical engine is known signed in numerous places by Paris maker, A. Duguet.
