Three lots of comic book art, and 2 others. 1) George McManus. Bringing Up Father. Original full color four panel "Maggie and Jiggs" cartoon created by McManus for Messrs. Haasis and Van Dien. November 1918. Accompanied by a typed letter on Salmagundi Club letterhead signed by McManus. "Hope the enclosed covers the situation to your satisfaction." Cartoon: H 9-1/4" W 11". Letter: H 7-1/4" W 6-1/4". Condition: Cartoon is in very good condition with age toning, stains and soiling. 4 thumbtack holes in the corners. Letter has been removed from an album, with residual glue stains and paper adhesion. One page of a bi-folium, with some folds and light soiling. Envelope included. 2) John Czop (illustrator). signed and authenticated mock up for Marvel Comics Avengers Issue #152 Story page #1 The Dying Game Part One. 1993. Original art with added talk bubbles and narrative blocks. On illustration quality paper for regular comic pages. H 17" W 11". Condition: Excellent Condition. With CoA from The Signed Edition, signed by Michael J. Mazz. All in a Mylar sleeve. 3) Steve Hughes, Tom Smith, and Mark Morales signed and authenticated mock up page from Lady Death story. Watercolor on heavy paper, with Mylar overlay in black pen and ink. Watercolor is signed by Smith, overlay is signed by all three. 1994. H 13-1/2" W 10". Condition: Excellent condition. Mylar is taped with blue masking tape across the top. Evidence of cellophane tape at bottom corners. Excellent signatures in gold or silver markers. "150.00" written in marker on the back. Cased in a heavy plastic sheet (age yellowed). 4) Carlo Pellegrini (Ape) (1839-1889) Caricaturist for Vanity Fair magazine. Colored lithograph of Thomas Carlyle for October 22, 1870. No.103. 2pp Litho and Text. In Mylar sheets, held with masking tape. 5) F. T. Church. Autograph letter with 2 internal ink sketches, one of a bottle of Scotch as a cow, and a rabbit busily sketching as a bird looks on. NY Carnegie 1914. Condition: Fine condition, with some folds.
