Description
An acrylic on canvas painting in the manner of Helen Lundeberg, American, 1908 to 1999. The painting depicts an abstract Surrealist composition in blue and green colors. Signed and dated, Lundeberg 1970, on the reverse, also signed, Helen Lundeberg, on the stretcher and features an Ancrum Gallery paper label. A seminal figure in the art history of Los Angeles, Helen Lundeberg co-founded with her husband, Lorser Feitelson, an art movement called New Classicism, also known as Post Surrealism. It fused the fantastical style of Surrealism with the formal structure of Renaissance painting and made Surrealism "less weird." One of a kind artwork.
