A Pair of Folk Art Full Portraits of Children, First Quarter 19th Century. Each depicting a full-length portrait of child siblings; wearing a red dress in a green garden. One inscribed to the reverse for Thomas Ward. Each in a period gilt wood frame.
Dimensions: Sight 4 1/8 x 3 7/8in; Frame 7 x 6 5/8in.
This lot comes from an Upper West Side, New York City collection that will be featured in a short lecture by noted specialist of portrait miniatures, Elle Shushan. Condition
Framed and glazed. Not examined out of the frames. Each drawing appears to be in generally good condition overall. The surface of the frames have been re-gilt/painted.
