A 19th century Swiss gold and enamelled snuff box
maker's mark incuse CM, possibly Charles Magnin, and stamped '18K'
Of curved rectangular form, the hinged cover featuring a central shaped-oval plaque painted with a polychrome enamelled scene of two traditionally dressed maidens resting within an Arcadian landscape, chased furling acanthus leaves, scrolling motifs and floral detail heightened by blue and white champlevé enamelling, the sides and base similarly decorated, all set against a delicate engine-turned ground, with a Carrington leather case, length 6.5cm, weight 45.8gms.
