Description
An authentic autographed 18th Century antique letter written and signed circa 1762 by British Army officer Field Marshal Jeffery Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst, KB (1717- 1797), Commander-in-Chief of the Forces in the British Army (1778-1782), and credited as the architect of Britain's successful campaign to conquer French North America during the Seven Years' War. The letter is addressed to Sir William Johnson, 1st Baronet (circa 1715 to 1774), British Army officer and Superintendent of Indian Affairs for Britain's northern colonies. Presented under glass with black and white images of Amherst and colonial architectural landscape. Accompanied by letter of authenticity and sales receipt, dated 1991.
