Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska or Canada, Inuit, ca. 20th century CE. A soapstone carving of a Inuit couple wearing parkas and carrying a basket, the man's arm intimately wrapped around the woman's back. The underside of the woman's foot is signed, although nearly invisible without the use of a UV light, the signature reads "Ruth Sangoya." Size: 8" L x 2.5" W x 8.5" H (20.3 cm x 6.4 cm x 21.6 cm)

Provenance: private Ojai, California, USA collection, by inheritance, collected before 2000
