The polychromed and lacquered leather hat boxes comprising one three-tiered hinged box featuring painted avian, peony, and floral motifs on a red ground with brass taijitu clasps, and one four-tiered hinged box with avian and arboreal motifs on a black ground with brass hardware, each revealing leather-lined interiors, 2 pieces

Each overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, indentations, and shelf wear commensurate with age. Each with some rubbed wear to the polychrome decorations, one with two pea-sized bumps/chips to leather at top edge. Each with shaken hinges and loose clasps.
