Monumental Chinese Rose Medallion Bowl, probably 19th century in date, is a strong example of the artistry of potters and painters creating this very popular export porcelain in the 19th century. The impressive scale of the bowl allows for large scale scenes of entertainers performing in an affluent household and garden scenes. These motifs alternate on the interior and exterior of the bowl. The scenes are intricately painted with enamels over the glaze in the rose medallion palette--rose, blues, turquoise, yellow, green and with gilded motifs. The bowl comes with a wooden stand.
