"RAY" PINE, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA, BENCH-MADE CARVED MAHOGANY DESK AND BOOKCASE, after a Connecticut example the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, two-piece construction, the upper section featuring broken-arch pediment, corkscrew flame finial, central pinwheel to tympanum, raised-panel doors flanked by applied fluted columns, and complex fitted interior, the lower case featuring hinged slant lid concealing complex fitted interior, over four graduated drawers exhibiting serpentine profile, flanked by solid ends, all raised on an applied ogee bracket-foot base, signed to back and to secret interior compartment. Dated 1992. 98 1/2" HOA, 43" WOA, 25 1/2" DOA.
