He was introduced to the Highwaymen art a couple of years prior and then A.E. Backus paintings. In 2011, Mark studied under Ahmed Eltemtamy, a listed Florida landscape artist. In 2016, Mark won the Annual Judges Choice Award with the Sebastian Art Club.
