FIRST EDITION, a collection of 13 poems written in Trieste, Zurich and Paris from 1913-1920. “The title of the collection evokes the slurred pronunciation of a street hawker crying his wares – poems for a penny – to the passing crowd” (Fargnoli and Gillespie, James Joyce A-Z, p.180).
