Description
1665 VIRGIL Aeneid Georgics Eclogues Bucolics Mythology RARE John Ogilby ENGLISH
“Audaces fortuna iuvat- (Fortune favors the bold).”
― Virgil
Virgil is regularly considered one of the greatest Roman poets. His epic poems, Eclogues, Georgics, and Aeneid are some of the most important works of western literature and describe mythology, medicine, astronomy, war and military, rhetoric, agriculture, and more!
This 1665 John Ogilby English translation is one of the earliest Ogilby editions. Ogilby editions of Virgil were amongst the best English translations, and because of the success of this and the 1649 first edition, Ogilby pushed to translate more Greek and Latin classics.
