FIRST EDITION. The plates are after the author's husband, Seth Eastman, an accomplished artist and topographical draftsman. They depict Indians performing various rituals and activities such as burial, administering medicine, dancing, traveling, fishing, spearing muskrats and dressing a buffalo skin.
