Description
Preliminary studies in graphite, India ink, and gouache on BFK Rives brown paper made by Art Nouveau and Art Deco designer and craftsman Rene Lalique. The upper sheet includes two rows of designs for belt buckles that depict ears of wheat, nude females, and flowers set in circles. On the lower sheet, Lalique drew elaborate sketches of seals that he adorned with butterflies and stylized flowers. These outstanding drawings have never been seen publicly. They are unique studies of museum quality as they were acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique. Housed in a natural color wooden frame. Frame size: 9.80"L x 13.40"H x 0.75"W. Artworks dimensions: upper sheet 8.25"L x 7.50"H; lower sheet: 8.30"L x 4.40"H.
