Description
ROLEX Oyster Perpetual Datejust Lady Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified watch, ref. 6917, serial no. 35985XX.
In 18kt yellow gold. Circular gold case with fluted bezel. Applied dot numerals. Luminescent baton hands, with central seconds hand. Auxiliary calendar window with Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock. President bracelet with Rolex folding clasp. Automatic movement, caliber 2035. With box.
Measurements: 26 mm (case diameter); 31 x 27 mm (total case with crown).
The Datejust watch symbolizes the Rolex definition of classic elegance. Launched in 1945, it was the first chronometer, automatic and water-resistant wristwatch to introduce the date in a window located at 3 o'clock. The magnifying glass effect of this Cyclops lens is a reminder that "24 hours not only constitute a day, but also mark a date to remember," according to Rolex. Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, described it as a technical feat, even claiming in 1945 that the Datejust was the "water of watchmaking. It synthesizes every discovery made to date". A ladies' version, the Oyster Perpetual Lady Datejust, was launched in 1957. "As reliable as the Datejust, it concentrates all the attributes of the original model," says the brand.
