So named because of the way the leather straps cross in front of the creel, the Frog Creel was sold through the Whitney Sporting Goods Co. of Denver Colorado. Featuring three straps of oak tanned leather that wrap around the French weave body, extending to the lid, and finished with a metal ring at the end for attaching a shoulder strap, consistent with Whitney made creels. This important example is in at least very good+ condition, with wear/breaks mostly on one bottom corner and minor scuffing to the leather. Measuring 13 3/4" x 6 1/2" x 9" tall, with a number 2 incised on the base leather, a similar example can be found on page 112 of the book "The Art of the Creel". A truly rare creel in far better condition than most known examples.
