Named to Saff Sergeant Joseph A Rosenthal, Crew member of the Boilermaker II. Part of the Ploiesti mission which was the worst loss of b-24 bombers in US history. The boilermaker II was hit by flak and forced to land. 10 POW. The plane was later recovered and rapaired. Also in this grouping is a very detailed scrapbook from Rosenthal. in this scrapbook you can see pictures of Boilermaker II before the mission and right after with damage to the plane. This scrapbook also has pictures and names of airmen who would later be KIA. The Showcase of this grouping is the Beauitful Painted A-2 Flight Jacket with the Boilermakers II Calling card. Rosenthals nametag is included, just has come unsewn and is in pocket of jacket. Lastly, a hand painted "the combat kids" b-2 Flying Cap is also included in this group. Please note some damage to the collar and neck of the jacket.
