Description
American, likely Philadelphia or Delaware, Chippendale cherry side chair, 3rd quarter 18th century, with scrolled ears, pierced back splat, needle point slip seat, pegged and mortise construction, and raised on square legs, apparently unmarked.
Provenance: written oral history from the family of Rev. William 'Lynn' Linn, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, first Chaplain of the US House of Representatives, 1789; passed down through family line.

Condition
Structurally stable, scattered scuffs, scratches, small chips inactive insect holes - mostly to back splat, repair to left ear, dryness crack to back leg, repair to stretcher with glue residue, possible repairs to needlepoint seat, and loss to fill under fabric.
