Description
This is an original albumen photograph of U.S. 7th Cavalry Battalion at Pine Ridge Wounded Knee circa 1890 by Trager & Kuhn. The photograph shows the entire Cavalry battalion from the United States 7th Cavalry on horseback. The back is marked “Trager & Kuhn Photographic and Scenic Artists Headquarters Chadron, Nebraska.” Trager & Kuhn as well as Northwestern Photographic Co. are documented as photographing the U.S. control and eventual massacre of the Sioux Indians at Pine Ridge Wounded Knee. This photo shows some fading and wear to the corners, but is a piece of history. Provenance: From the Jim Aplan Piedmont, South Dakota collection. The large boudoir card measures 8.5” by 5.25”.
