Featured in this lot is a 1898 1st edition of "The Rainbow's End: Alaska" by Alice Palmer Henderson, published and copy-righted by Herbert S. Stone & Company in Chicago and New York. The book describes the technicalities of mining, the natural history of dogs and reindeer, Indian Myths, and Christian missionary work. It also takes the reader along the Yukon into the heart of the Klondike, as well as to the Bering Sea, Dawson, and Pribyloff Islands. The book also depicts the hardships of life on the frontier as well as hunting grounds, fishery waters, the seal trade, and other topics. The book is bound in blue cloth covers and is stamped with gold gilt lettering and ornamentation on the spine and covers. The book shows slight shelf wear with some rubbing to the corners, but the spine is tight. The book measures 7 3/4" L x 5 1/8" W x 1" D. The book weighs approximately 1 pound.*
