Description

A rare and unusual statement sofa by Danish furniture maker N.A. Jorgensen, more well-recognized under the name Bramin that was adopted in the 1960's, a company known for their finely crafted collaborations with iconic Scandinvian architects and cabinet makers including Hans Olsen, Kurt Olsen and H.W. Klein among others. This particular sofa, occasionally attributed to H.W. Klein, is N.A. Jorgensen's model 96, c. 1954/1955. Inspired by the transitional Art Deco-influenced curvilinear designs of Fritz Hansen and Viggo Boesen, this banana or curved sofa features exposed, open bentwood armrests in beech, offering an airy balance to an otherwise sturdy and solid frame. Upholstered in a period neutral-toned chenille, sculpted in deep relief, with a floral and foliate damask motif. A great candidate for reupholstery to update to your personal taste. Dimensions: H 27" x W 58.25" x D 30" x SH 14" Condition: Wear consistent with age and use. Some soiling/small stains to upholstery. Wood with some wear and marks. B076
