This is a variant of the image known as "The Prayer” that was published in Volume XII of The North American Indian. Prints of variant images are unique in that they can offer a more detailed view into the working process of Curtis in the field and are generally sought-after by collectors of Curtis’ work, especially in the platinum photographic process. This image shows a group of 3 individuals, whereas the published image shows only two.
