An unusual hanging full body copper mermaid, constructed similar to a weathervane but with 2 attached loops on center seam for hanging, probably for outside display beneath a country store or inn sign. Good patination. While it has the appearance of a circa 1950 or earlier vane, we recently discovered Rafael Osona Auctions sold a similar weathervane at their February 2021 auction and described as being circa 1990 but of a different size - this one was never a weathervane as no signs that it ever had a post attached to it. It is all handmade and of beautiful proportions and detailed construction. Slight separation in seam at neck (see photo), else very good condition with no repairs or other damage. Measures 27"W x 14"D (at tail) x 16 1/2"H.
