One pair of moccasins accompanied by two note inscribed: Taos Pueblo Women's leggin moccasins Purchased at Taos Fall 1941; and: Napth. June 27, 81 Taos

Pueblo - Women's Leggins Moccasins. Purchased by R.H.R. at Taos Pueblo from an Indian woman who was wearing them.

I was with Roy at the time. We wandered all around and down a little side street where we saw the woman working just outside her little one or two room adobe. She pretended not to notice us (even tho' we stood out like sore thumbs in that remote place). But finally Roy greeted her and engage in conversation - and then she was quite friendly - and finally Roy asked her if she would sell him her moccasins. So she invited us in while she removed the worn moccasins from her feet. It was an interesting experience.
