Mary Barr Ricketts, Washington D.C. circa 1805, black and white chalk on paper; original period gilt wood cove molding frame with reverse painted glass liner, 25-1/2 x 19-1/2 x 2 in.

Note: Mary Barr was the wife of John Thomas Ricketts, a miller and shipowner of Alexandria, who she married in 1783

Condition
foxing and moisture marks on paper, repair lower left corner and bottom edge in area visible just above painted mat; original wood stretcher; loses to gilding on reverse painted glass frame liner but very good considering age, frame with nicks and losses
