"Daybreak" is a dramatic 19th century American landscape of merit. This oil on panel painting is signed 'A.Fisher', lower right. Oil on wood panel. Dimensions: 12" x 16"; framed: 18" x 22". There are numerous artists who signed their canvases 'A. Fisher' and the likelihood of this being the important Hudson River artist Alvan Fisher (1792-1863) has been dismissed by three knowledgeable connoisseurs. But if you are in the market for an early American painting in good condition with a period frame, this work is a great addition to your collection. It heralds all the qualities of a Hudson River landscape awe of the dramatic morning sky across an untouched land where there are no docks or houses to spoil the pure natural beauty.
