Oil on artist's board, titled, signed, and dated 1962 on verso. View of Lord Cornwallis and his troops surrendering to the Continental Army at Yorktown. In its original frame, 14" high, 18" wide (overall). Beymer was born in Beymerstown (now Old Washington), in Muskingum County. During his life, he created an impressive body of work depicting historical scenes, life in his hometown, and nature, and it includes paintings, carvings, and other mediameter. For his paintings, he typically made the frames as well. This grouping represents the first public offering of Beymer's work.
