A group of seven silver tablespoons, various makers, Massachusetts, circa 1720-1780

The majority of “Hanoverian” mid-rib form, all with drop, shell, or rat-tail to bowl back, comprising a pair of spoons by Josiah Austin (1719/1720-c. 1780), Charlestown, MA, engraved with monogram, “AS,” marked; a spoon by William Jones (1694-1730), Boston and Marblehead, MA, engraved with monogram, “G/ MR,” marked twice (once to bowl and once to underside of handle), two spoons by Gideon Myrick (c. 1740-?), Boston, MA, engraved respectively with monograms, “PI to AW” and “A/ OA,” both marked; a spoon by Zachariah Brigden (1734-1787), Boston, MA, engraved with monogram, “MW to MW,” marked; and a spoon by Benjamin Bunker (1751-1842), Nantucket, MA, engraved with monogram, “F/ OE,” marked twice.
