For your bidding pleasure is a Hopi sterling silver overlay belt buckle by Karen and Manuel Hoyungawa. This buckle features a corn stalk and figural overlay design with near perfect cut outs and lines. A textured background which was then darkened to emphasize and add contrast highlights the design. This lovely belt buckle would create a statement on your favorite jeans or look great in your collection!
Overlay jewelry consists of two pieces of silver soldered together. The top layer has a design drawn and cut out. When the design is complete, the top layer is soldered to a second layer of silver, which will show through the open areas of the design on the top.
MAKER: Hallmarked with six line raincloud (stamped). Karen (Hopi) and Manuel (1953-2011; Hopi). Manuel is the nephew and a student of Preston Monongye, Both Karen and Manuel are multiple award winners.
APPROX AGE: Fairly Modern (meaning 1980s or newer).
SIZE: The buckle measures approximately 2 1/8 inches tall by 3 inches wide and fits a 1 3/8 inch belt. The total weight for this items is 60.9 grams.
